REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. - Redstone Arsenal leaders are preparing to "tap the keg" on Oktoberfest 2015, for the 20th year. The event starts Thursday, but the official keg-tapping ceremony is set for Friday at 6:00 p.m.
Oktoberfest is open to the public September 17-20 at varying costs. Admission includes carnival rides, entertainment and parking at the event. It's located at the Redstone Arsenal Activity Field inside Gate 10, which is located on Jordan Lane South.
The hours for Oktoberfest are as follows:
Thursday, Sept. 17 - 5:00 - 10:00 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 18 - 5:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m.
Saturday, Sept. 19 - 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m.
Sunday, Sept. 20 - 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Active duty military members receive $2 off ticket price on Friday with a Military ID. This is limited to a family of five.
LTG Larry Wyche and COL Bill Marks will open ceremonies Friday evening. WHNT News 19 understands Jerry Springer will also be at the opening event.
There will also be a Craft Biergarten at Oktoberfest. Each day offers the opportunity for unlimited sampling for $20. The cost includes 5.25 oz souvenir glass and brew caddy.

Friday, Sept. 18 - 6:00 - 10:00 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 19 - Session 1 - 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Session 2 - 7:30 - 11:30 p.m.
