Oktoberfest Bear Mountain NY

Bear mountain, Oktoberfest, on sat oct 5. Im glad I took the seastreak catamaran $47. from pier 11 Wall St, and not the dumpy looking circle line $25. a beautiful indian summer day, the seastreak was crowded, but everyone had seats. Get breakfast before boarding, you can bring coffee, and food abroad. There was a bar on board. It was amazing how many were buying beers at 9:30 am, but then its Oktoberfest. Ride up to bear mtn took 2 1/2 hrs :-( with boring old man on speaker calling out the sights. He talked the whole entire 2hrs, a bit long. ride home took 1 1/2 :-) . From the dock, its about half mile up winding roads to fest, benches along the way to rest. Wear sneakers, or flats. No heels !. Fest had craft vendors, local artists. but scarfs, bags, silver jewelry were pricey. If you live in NYC, you can get them at weekend street fairs for half the price. Long lines for Lg beer $25, refills $12. Wines $6. The weather lovely mid 70s. Lake had row boats to rent, beautiful views. But in Two Weeks trees will be bursting with colors. I had a wonderfult time, and will go back next year !
