The feel-good spirit of Highlands 15th ANNUAL Oktoberfest is modeled after the traditional Munich, Germany Oktoberfest with an emphasis on eating; drinking and being merry while providing something for everyone. Authentic German food, live music, dancing and other great entertainment will be part of the Highlands Business Partnerships 15th Annual Oktoberfest celebration taking place in Veterans Park on Bay & Shrewsbury Avenues on Saturday, October 17th from 1:00 7:00 PM. Admission and Parking is free.
The park is festive with fall decorations, the food is great and the varieties of German beers are even better. Authentic German food is a highlight of this famous festival. Executive Chef Butch Greenwaldt is preparing the menu with plenty of traditional German favorites hot off the grill such as bratwurst, knockwurst, kraut, potato pancakes, goulash, sauerbraten and Bavarian noodles along with other tasty fare those less adventurous.
Quench your thirst with a large variety of Oktoberfest Beers, both light and dark. The beer garden will also serve Pumpkin beer, Hard Apple Cider, Riesling wine and Sangria. Join the thousands of visitors who annually attend to enjoy the live Oompah and polka music performed by the Ed Hendela Band. The Bayern Verien German Dancers will surely get the crowd moving. Festivities will include a Best-Dressed Contest, and a Beer Stein Holding Contest with special prizes. There will also be 50/50 drawings with 50% of the proceeds going to the lucky winners. There is something for everyone at the Highlands Oktoberfest. The festival is family friendly and there will be childrens activities and face painting, along with a wide variety of retail, specialty and craft vendors.
Highlands native and professional race car driver, Frankie Montecalvo, will make a special appearance. Frankie has competed in races all over the world including the Le Mans, and most recently won the 2015 Pirelli World Challenge GTA Championship. He received his award at the Championship dinner following the last race of the series at Laguna Seca. Frankie will be signing autographs from 3-5PM.
Fall Into Highlands where the Oktoberfest tradition continues all month long at Seastreak Ferry terminal located at 326 Shore Drive in Highlands, NJ. Oktoberfest on the beach will be held every Saturday and Sunday through October 31st from noon to 4pm. Enjoy live entertainment by the famous German Girl, Melina and the Oompah-pahs. The lovely Melina is a singer-songwriter, performer, & actress. She sang lead vocals on 3x platinum albums for various intl. artists, soundtracks + jingles. The cozy decorated tent is filled with singing, dancing, a Best Dressed contest, Stein Holding contest, German beers food and so much more.
