Deck the halls with Carl Sagan! Women who watched Cosmos as little girls grew up thinking red turtlenecks are the height of sexy dressing, and consequently we all love Christmas whether we’re atheists or not. FACT!
Also fact: in the comments on that G+ post, Daniel Rice gave me one of the nicest compliments I’ve ever received.
Your blog– and your well deserved space on the Dot– are great. Thanks for lending your spirit and activism (and positive irreverence!) to the people.
You’ve really found a great calling with this revolution. I hope you’re having fun. I give thee props.
Wow, now Carl Sagan isn’t the only man I have a crush on!
Astronauts Michael Good (left) and Garrett Reisman goof around in space. Is that not frickin’ cool? GOOFING AROUND IN SPACE!!!!
How’dya like your job?
You want to hear something sad? When I made this image I “sixtified” the image, which adds pink and orange tones, because to me that’s the era most associated with astronauts, and that is just plain sad. We have more astronauts than ever before, doing cool things, but it seems hardly anyone gets excited about it anymore; not cause and effect, I don’t think. No: it’s that the populace is not as willing as it used to be to throw a budget at something that is inherently noble and exciting, and no government is willing to take dollars away from an active war effort to put towards something that has no immediate payoffs except knowledge, inspiration and elevation.
